Hello Everybody,

Next month’s film sees Kenneth Branagh return to his boyhood home. Belfast is the autobiographical story of his coming of age during the Troubles of 1969 when Protestant mobs were targeting Irish Catholics. Although the Troubles set the time and place of the action, the film is actually a ‘twinkly- eyed’ childhood memory.

An award winning film, with a fantastic cast led by Dame Judy Dench, Ciaran Hinds and Jamie Dornan. Belfast is described as a phenomenal drama that’s really funny but also heart breaking.

The Ystradowen Cinema Team is looking forward to welcoming you on Wednesday 8th June. Tickets are available from Stella Cheeseman 01446774627 or the Tudor Garage

Best wishes

Hello Everybody

The Cinema Team were delighted with the response to the re-start of the Ystradowen Film Night. The chosen film Dream Horse proved to be a hit with an enthusiastic audience who really appreciated the new large screen. We were also reliably informed that the recently installed loop system for the hard of hearing worked really well.

Our next film is a remake of one of the greatest musicals ever made, Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story

Set in New York and based onRomeo and Juliette, it’s the story of forbidden love and the rivalry between two teenage gangs the Jets and the Sharks.

Stephen Speilberg’s remake of this masterpiece is described as thrilling, exhilarating  and visually staggering.

This highly acclaimed and award winning film will be showing in the Village Hall on Wednesday 11th May 2022.

Tickets are available from The Tudor Garage and from Stella Cheeseman – 01446774827 and cost £6.

The Cinema Team is looking forward to welcoming you – do join us for what promises to be an entertaining evening.

Best wishes

Hello Everybody,

At long last,  covid restrictions are being lifted and from March 28th it will be up to us to take our own precautions. With this in mind I am delighted to inform you that the Ystradowen Community Cinema Team is raring to go!! You can rest assured we will be taking all reasonable precautions, such as, restricting our ticket sales to 50 to allow for better spacing and making sure hand sanitiser is available etc. As before, we feel sure you will have a good evening’s entertainment with friends and neighbours.

To add to our excitement at re-opening we will be using the new ‘big screen’ and the loop system (for the hard of hearing) for the first time. These were installed during the first lockdown, to enhance our cinema experience, little did we know how long we would have to wait to use it!

For our opening film we have chosen a light hearted comedy/drama The Dream Horse, we will be showing this film on Wednesday 13th April at 7.30.

Based on a true story Dream Alliance is an unlikely race horse bred by small-town Welsh barmaid Jan Vokes (Toni Collette). With no capital and no experience, Jan convinces her neighbours to chip in their meagre earnings to help raise Dream in the hopes that he can compete with the racing elites.

Tickets are available from The Tudor Garage and from Stella Cheeseman – 01446774827 and cost £6. Unfortunately we have had to increase the ticket price to help cover increased cost.

The Cinema Team is looking forward to welcoming you – do join us for what promises  to be an entertaining evening.

Best wishes
